Swedish Chocolate Balls | Svenska Chokladbollar

One of our favorite treats in this house is a fresh batch of chocolate balls. Usually my husband whips them up without anyone even noticing and then next thing we know there’s a stash of chocolate balls in the fridge! These are bite sized little balls that give you that “fix” for something sweet in the afternoon. I don’t think there is a single kid that would turn these down!

I used the recipe from the Swedish book “Sju Sorters Kakor”. I adapted it for our measurements and wrote it in English for you. 🙂

Here’s how you make these simple and quick little treats!

You will need::::

1 stick of butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
2-3 tbsp cocoa
2-3 tbsp cold coffee (black)
1 1/2 c oatmeal (quick oats)

Garnish: Sugar pearls or coconut flakes

Mix first 5 ingredients together. (I use a potato masher) Once blended add in oats little by little. Scoop the mixture with your tablespoon measuring spoon and make into balls. Once balled up swirl in the garnish. I love using the pearl sugar. It adds a little crunch to the balls. Pearl sugar is not that easy to find and a little pricey but worth it I think! You can find pearl sugar here!
